Inside Self-Storage: Self-storage-kiosk developer OpenTech Alliance Inc. says kiosk-usage numbers for the first six months of 2008 are proving how consumers use and benefit from self-service tools. During the first half of the year, OpenTech's kiosks were used to to rent 3,925 storage units, make 31,984 payments and purchase 1,456 locks, representing a total of $3,719,772 in self-service transactions. More than 50 percent of kiosk use took place while rental offices were open, demonstrating consumer comfort with self-serve technology.
